Election Results - Do i care ?

The congress- NCP have been declared the clear winners of State assemly elections and that is what every god damn News channel have been beaming since dawn. As i travelled towards the city i could see people holding flags of their victorious parties and celebrating for the same. But do i really care about the results or let me put it this way, do the results make me feel happy or sad. Frankly it does'nt evoke any kind of emotions mainly due to my apathy towards the political system. Its very hard to believe people whose asssets have exponentially increased disproportionate to their income during the last five years can provide a reason for me to vote for them. I would rather vote for a system that stems out corruption in my country, vote for a system that speaks less and works more. Its strange that no political party speaks of bringing halt to corruption or getting some transparency in their poll agenda.
Security was important poll issue for Mumbai specially after 26/11 , but i couldnt find one politician speaking about it , rather more focus was on the issue "Son of the Soil" ( if you know what i mean).
The fact that people are been given a holiday, malls are shut so that they could come out and declare their mandate. All this for a voter turnout of 50% is hard to digest. Its more of a blot on the political system , how could you pronounce victory when half the city doesnt vote.

Its just that the feeling has creeped in that they are all the same, no party is as good or as bad as the others. They thrive in the same system , make merry as long as they are around. And common people are left to think as to where we are heading as a country as India.

Obama peace prize? justified or not

I switched on my TV when juggling with the channels, realized Barack Obama has won a Noble for peace. Hey but Mother Teressa got one too and i dont think they are in the same league.

So this brings us to the criteria or the basis with which the Peace prize was given and i quote " for his extraoardinary efforts to strenghthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". I seriously believe Mr Obama has to thank Mr George Bush for the awards, the war in Iraq was something that was not desired. Though Obama after getting elected has taken note of issues like shutting down the Guantanamo bay. The kind of Scenario that he was put in it was natural for him to act before things spiral out of his hands. Ok so he has acted in the desirable manner and thats what was expected from him . But it has to be known peace like happiness is a very abstract term.Peace is something that tends to the ideal state but cannot be acquired .You can only hope for peace and frankly speaking its a state of mind.Only when you hope or pray for peace , then you find peace. It provides you with this feel good factor , something that you can live with. This is the chord that Obama has hit with the people of America and people world wide. It is his attempts to create peace that has won him the award and not what he has done in office after he got elected. It is with this hope that we fight issues in our life.Hope sometimes also means to take a stand and be assertive in situations where global peace is endangered.

My bet for the noble was on Morgan Tsvangirai the MDC leader from Zimbabwe for trying to get Zimbabwe on a road to economic recovery, and mind you he has taken several blows for the same.

Since i wasnt on the panel . Obama got lucky

The Circus called Pakistan cricket

If you have ever been to a circus, there is this one very popular event where one performer does a 360, swinging in the air and is held on by another artist. Pakistan cricket is very symptomatic of this where you are exceptional if you perform good but one slip and you are brought down like a house on fire. The recent Match fixing allegations on Pakistan shadows another event in this regard. My heart goes down to Younis khan, who even with a broken finger mustered the courage to lead against the Indians. And then when they loose to Australia and subsequently Newzealand all the trash talk about Match Fixing and the involvement of Indian Mafia comes up. Cricket has moved ahead from those gloomy days of Match fixing and if someone doubts the commitment of Younis Khan then they are probably living in the wrong world. Pakistan are the T20 champions and are a good cricketing team. I just feel that it wasnt their day.i would have wondered what the situation would be if they had lost to India.

This kind of feeling reflects the turbulence the country is going through where one small loss and you are taken to the butcher, if only Cricket is taken less seriously. If only someone does understand that if you can win on a day , there is an equal probability that you could loose on any other day and both of them are mutually exclusive. And the fact that it is coming from a Member of the parliament says more about the kind of governance pakistan is going through.

Cricket for christ sake can surely live without these elements

MID AIR (INDIA) FIASCO

This is reference to the mid air crisis , this week reported in the media about a scuffle between pilots and cabin crew in one of the Air india flights. It is hard to imagine pilots getting engaged in a fist fight such as this where they should be more involved in manning the plane.

The reason for this blog is a incident that happened during my Air India flight from London to Mumbai. There was this argument that broke out between a male passenger and a couple inside the plane. The reason being this gentleman was occupying around 4 seats at the back row of the plane lying flat on the seats. When asked to just occupy one seat by the female , he started abusing and would not give up the place. They asked him to be seated where his actual seat was however he was adamant saying that no one had the authority to question him. This continued for quite sometime . I was embarassed at the same time and a bit scared since the fight had just started to get a bit too pushy or a bit too verbal in mild terms. It was alarming to see not even a single air -hostess/flight person coming and trying to diffuse the event instead they just stood there watching some Tamasha.

It was only after a few passengers intervened that the scuffle came to a halt. Its not very often that a fight happens to take place in a aeroplane . I am happy too have witnessed one but not entirely happy with the lurch the National Carrier is currently in.

The Kind of Customer service you get in Air India is very similar to that you would get in a government run office. The Air hostess/Aunties would try their best but i dont see the keenness in them. I remember the Civil Aviation Minister telling that the "Air India staff are themseves to blame for the situation they are in". I have to agree with Mr Praful Patel.

The mid- air scuffle points to the same, the employees may have a different take on this but as a customer i am always looking for the best.I bet My mom would take on any Air hostess on a given day and come triumphant. Its a bit sad to tell this but a lot needs to be desired.

Its high time Air -India get their act together, to be labelled as shoddy wont suit the Maharaja.
I would not like to see the Maharaja sinking so fast and so easily.
